Wintersleep: Welcome To The Night Sky (swirl vinyl, Dine Alone exclusive) [DINE ALONE]

Why you'll love it

We're lucky to have a few of Dine Alone's own exclusive swirl pressings for the takeover, a variant the label normally keeps for its own store. This is the record that broke Wintersleep: "Weighty Ghost" landed them on Letterman and helped win the 2008 Juno for New Group of the Year.

This edition

• Dine Alone exclusive swirl vinyl
• Copies limited
• 10 tracks, including "Weighty Ghost"

About the album

Welcome To The Night Sky came out in October 2007 and turned a cult Halifax band into a national one. "Weighty Ghost" did the heavy lifting: it charted, turned up in the film One Week, became the theme for CBC's Cracked, and took the band to The Late Show with David Letterman in 2011.

The rest of the album earns its place beside that single. "Drunk On Aluminium" opens with a jolt, "Archaeologists" and "Search Party" dig into darker corners, and the eight-minute "Miasmal Smoke & The Yellow Bellied Freaks" closes it out in a slow, widening spiral.
