Wintersleep's 2003 self-titled debut on marble vinyl, the Halifax band's first record, back in print from Dine Alone.
The album that started it all, back on marble vinyl in Dine Alone's 2025 reissue. Wintersleep produced it themselves in 2003, two years after forming in Halifax.
Wintersleep formed in Halifax in 2001, and this debut came out in April 2003 on Dependent Music, a Yarmouth collective that gave the band its first home. They produced it themselves, with James R. Shaw recording and mastering, and later had Laurence Currie remix it and Noah Mintz remaster it.
The songs are spacious and patient: "Sore" and "Snowstorm" open things quietly, "Caliber" stretches out, and "Motion" closes with nearly eight minutes of slow-burning build. It is the blueprint for everything that followed.
