About the album

Wintersleep wrote New Inheritors on the road in 2009, testing songs like "Encyclopedia", "Baltic" and "Black Camera" in front of crowds before the band went in with producer Tony Doogan. The title comes from a Nathaniel Hawthorne story, "The New Adam and Eve", and the album keeps that sense of a world emptied out and handed to whoever is left.

It came out in May 2010 and became the Halifax band's highest-charting record. The guitars are heavier than on Welcome To The Night Sky and the songs run longer, building from the slow pulse of "Experience The Jewel" to the closing sweep of "Baltic".
