Wintersleep: Hello Hum (2LP, marble vinyl) [DINE ALONE]

Why you'll love it

Dine Alone's 2025 reissue spreads Hello Hum across two marble LPs. Tony Doogan and Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT) produced it, and "In Came The Flood" climbed to No. 7 on the Canadian alternative chart. DIY called it the band's "most catchy and complete album by far."

About the album

Wintersleep began writing Hello Hum on the road in 2010 and 2011, working from late-night voice memos and bedroom demos while New Inheritors was still touring. They took the sketches to Tony Doogan and Dave Fridmann in the summer of 2011, and the record that came out of those sessions is brighter and quicker on its feet than anything the Halifax band had made before.

It arrived in June 2012 and gave the group two radio singles, "In Came The Flood" and "Nothing Is Anything (Without You)". Paul Murphy's voice still carries the weight; the difference is in the hooks, which land early and stay put, from the brisk opener "Hum" to the six-minute haze of "Smoke".

Certainly, 'Hello Hum' is the band's most catchy and complete album by far
