2LP gatefold of City and Colour's fifth album, made with his touring band; No. 1 in Canada, with "Wasted Love" and the nine-minute "Woman".
This is the first City and Colour album cut live with his road band, and it went straight to No. 1 in Canada. "Wasted Love" reached No. 3 at Canadian rock radio, and the record earned three JUNO nominations, including Artist of the Year.
If I Should Go Before You arrived on October 9, 2015, and it opens with a statement: "Woman," nine minutes of slow-building guitar that sounds nothing like the bedroom songs of Sometimes. Green recorded in Nashville with the musicians he'd toured with for two years, and you can hear a band breathing together.
The LP drifts between soul, psych and country without losing its centre. "Northern Blues" stretches out, "Lover Come Back" leans into a groove, and "Blood" closes things in a long, grey dusk.
