2LP set of City and Colour's first No. 1 album, double platinum in Canada, with "Fragile Bird", "Weightless" and "The Grand Optimist".
Little Hell gave City and Colour his first No. 1 album in Canada, went double platinum, and reached No. 2 in Australia. It won Dallas Green his second JUNO for Songwriter of the Year, with "Fragile Bird" and "Weightless" leading the way.
Little Hell came out on June 7, 2011, the moment City and Colour grew into a full band record. Green let the drums and electric guitars in, and the hush of the early albums gave way to something rougher and more open.
"Fragile Bird" is the hook everyone remembers, but the LP lives in its quieter corners: the title track's slow confession, "O'Sister" and its harmonies, the gospel lift of "Hope For Now" at the close.
The JUNOs noticed beyond the songwriting win, too: Little Hell was up for Artist of the Year and Fan Choice, and "Fragile Bird" for Single of the Year.
