2LP set of City and Colour's sixth album, the first on Dallas Green's own Still Records. Produced by Jacquire King, home of the Canadian rock No. 2 single "Strangers".
This is the first City and Colour album on Dallas Green's own Still Records, spread across two LPs. It went to No. 1 on the Canadian albums chart, "Strangers" climbed to No. 2 at Canadian rock radio, and the album earned a JUNO nomination for Adult Alternative Album of the Year.
A Pill For Loneliness arrived on October 4, 2019, four years after If I Should Go Before You. Green handed the controls to producer Jacquire King, and the songs open out into long, slow-burning pieces; "Astronaut" and "The War Years" both run past six minutes.
The LP keeps its eyes on doubt and distance, but the arrangements carry it somewhere warmer: layered guitars, patient drums, and that voice floating over everything. "Living In Lightning" opens the record at a run, and "Lay Me Down" closes it in a hush.
