Why you'll love it

TPC earned a Juno nomination for Alternative Album of the Year, and it's the sound of a band that nearly called it quits finding its spark again. Rob Schnapf produced it in Los Angeles.

This edition

  • 2LP set
  • 12 tracks, including "Simple Dude" and "New Blues"

About the album

Tokyo Police Club wrote TPC in 2016 after a dark stretch in which they considered breaking up, demoing the songs in an abandoned church in rural Ontario. The big room changed the arrangements; Dave Monks has said they started favouring simple rhythms and slower tempos.

They cut the album in Los Angeles in January 2018 with Rob Schnapf, who had produced Champ, and it came out on Dine Alone that October. "New Blues" and "Simple Dude" lead the way, and the record closes on "Daisy Chain".
