Counterparts' sixth album on LP, the record that gave the Hamilton band its first Billboard 200 top-100 entry. Ten tracks, closing with the title song.
Nothing Left To Love reached No. 97 on the Billboard 200, the first time Counterparts cracked the top 100. It also marked the return of guitarist Alex Re, and its ten songs run lean and heavy from "Love Me" to the title track.
By 2019 Counterparts had been grinding through the melodic hardcore circuit for more than a decade, and Nothing Left To Love sounds like a band that knows exactly what it does best. The riffs are tight, the breakdowns land where you want them, and Brendan Murphy's voice carries the same raw, aching edge that made the band a cult favourite.
The album opens with the 100-second rush of "Love Me" and ends on the slow-burning title track, the longest song here. In between sit "Paradise And Plague" and "Wings Of Nightmares", songs that pair brutality with a surprising sense of melody.
Alex Re's return on guitar gave the record extra muscle. It came out on November 1, 2019, through New Damage in Canada and Pure Noise in the US.
