About the album

Recorded in just six days at Havana's EGREM studios in 1996, produced by Ry Cooder and directed by Juan de Marcos González, the album brought together legendary Cuban musicians including Compay Segundo, Ibrahim Ferrer, Rubén González, Eliades Ochoa and Omara Portuondo.

"Chan Chan" is warm and timeless, "Dos Gardenias" is one of the most romantic songs ever sung, "El Cuarto de Tula" is a joyous jam, and "Candela" and "Pueblo Nuevo" swing with irresistible grace.

A Grammy and one of the best-selling world music albums ever. Thirty years of very good company.
