About the album

In late-70s and early-80s Nigeria, William Onyeabor recorded and pressed his own records, building long, grooving tracks from synthesizers, drum machines, funk guitar and call-and-response vocals. He later turned away from music entirely, which only added to his legend.

"Atomic Bomb" is an irresistibly bouncy groove, "Fantastic Man" is pure joy, "Body and Soul" and "Better Change Your Mind" stretch out hypnotically, and "When the Going Is Smooth and Good" is a stone-cold classic. Compiled by Uchenna Ikonne.
