About the album

Rob Zombie's first solo album, Hellbilly Deluxe, was already built like a horror-movie drive-in, so handing it to a crew of industrial and electronic producers made a lot of sense. American Made Music to Strip By reworks ten of its songs, leaving out the three instrumental interludes, with Scott Humphrey and Zombie himself producing. Hellbilly Deluxe had sold over three million copies in the US alone, so there was no shortage of listeners ready for round two.

Charlie Clouser takes four mixes, including the "Si Non Oscillas, Noli Tintinnare" take on "Dragula" that also turned up on The Matrix soundtrack and the "Subliminal Seduction" mix of "Living Dead Girl," which got its own video with Zombie and the band dressed as mummies. Rammstein take on "Spookshow Baby," God Lives Underwater rebuild "How to Make a Monster," Chris Vrenna handles "Return of the Phantom Stranger," Philip Steir remixes "The Ballad of Resurrection Joe," and DJ Lethal closes it with "Meet the Creeper."

It has sold over 300,000 copies worldwide. The mix names alone read like a midnight horror double bill, which, for Rob Zombie, is presumably the point.
