Why you'll love it

Floodland is the Sisters of Mercy's biggest album and a cornerstone of gothic rock. "This Corrosion," produced by Jim Steinman, is one of the most gloriously over-the-top singles of the '80s.

This edition

  • Black ice galaxy vinyl
  • Rhino / Warner pressing

About the album

After the original Sisters of Mercy split, Andrew Eldritch rebuilt the band around himself, bassist Patricia Morrison and his trusty drum machine Doktor Avalanche, and went big. Floodland trades the band's early guitar grind for cathedral-sized synths, gospel choirs and Meat Loaf producer Jim Steinman's flair for drama.

"This Corrosion" is a towering, choir-backed anthem, "Dominion" and "Lucretia My Reflection" are dark dancefloor classics, and "Driven Like the Snow" and "1959" show off Eldritch's brooding baritone. This pressing comes on striking black ice galaxy vinyl.
