1999 debut from Pezz, the Mississauga band that became Billy Talent, on vinyl for the first time: remastered, in a gatefold jacket.
Before they were Billy Talent, Ben Kowalewicz, Ian D'Sa, Jon Gallant and Aaron Solowoniuk were Pezz, and Watoosh! is the only album they made under that name. Dine Alone remastered it and pressed it on vinyl for the first time, in a gatefold jacket with Ian D'Sa's cover art.
Watoosh! was recorded in Mississauga in 1999 and sold out of the trunk of a car, a self-made pop-punk record by four friends who had been playing together since high school. The songs are lighter and more playful than the band's later work, but the DNA is all there: Ian D'Sa's ringing guitar lines, Ben Kowalewicz's elastic voice and a rhythm section that never sits still.
Later that year a legal dispute forced a name change, and Pezz became Billy Talent. "Fairytale", "Nita" and "Recap" give a glimpse of the band before the arenas; a short organ interlude and a minute-long Tragically Hip cover close the album.
