20th anniversary pressing of Cancer Bats' debut on starburst vinyl with reworked cover art, back in print after years away. On the band's own Bat Skull Records.
Birthing The Giant had been out of print for years, and the band brought it back for its 20th anniversary on starburst vinyl with new cover art. It's the record that launched Toronto's Cancer Bats in 2006: "Golden Tanks", "French Immersion" and "Pneumonia Hawk" are all here.
Liam Cormier and Scott Middleton started Cancer Bats in Toronto in May 2004, and two years later Distort put out their debut. Birthing The Giant arrived in June 2006 in Canada and that September in the US, eleven blasts of hardcore with a sludgy, swaggering low end.
The song titles give away the band's sense of humour ("Butterscotch", "100 Grand Canyon", "Ghost Bust That"), but the playing is all business. Twenty years on, the band is reissuing its first three albums on vinyl, and this pressing comes with altered artwork.
