About the album

The Godfather of Soul invented funk with his relentless, tightly wound grooves, scorching horns and explosive vocals, and this set gathers twenty of his most famous recordings from 1956 to 1976.

"I Got You (I Feel Good)" and "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" are iconic, "Sex Machine" and "Super Bad" are the essence of funk, "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" is a stunning ballad, and "Please, Please, Please" is where it all began.

Twenty songs, and the furniture will need moving for most of them.
