![J. Cole: Born Sinner (2LP) [INTERSCOPE]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/60511761/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-j-cole-born-sinner-2lp-interscope.jpg)
A 2LP set of J. Cole's 2013 album Born Sinner, with "Power Trip," "Crooked Smile" and "Let Nas Down."
Born Sinner went to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and features "Power Trip" with Miguel and "Crooked Smile" with TLC, J. Cole producing most of it himself.
J. Cole moved his album's date up a week to go head to head with Kanye West, which tells you how much confidence he had in this one. Born Sinner went on to top the Billboard 200, and it still sounds like a rapper fully hitting his stride.
Cole produced much of it himself, building warm, soulful beats around his searching lyrics. "Power Trip" with Miguel is a hazy, obsessive love song, "Crooked Smile" with TLC is a glowing ode to imperfection, "Forbidden Fruit" with Kendrick Lamar flips a Ronnie Foster sample, and "Let Nas Down" is a disarmingly honest tribute to his hero.
It's full of dark corners and bright spots, sin and redemption, and it set the stage for 2014 Forest Hills Drive.
