About the album

Two solo albums in one sleeve, issued under one band name, and somehow it worked better than anyone dared hope. Big Boi's Speakerboxxx and André 3000's The Love Below were meant to come out separately, but Arista bundled them together, and the result is one of the most ambitious hip-hop records ever made.

Big Boi's half is pure Atlanta funk with Parliament-Funkadelic in its veins, led by the strutting "The Way You Move" and the fiery "Ghetto Musick." André's half dives into pop, jazz, psychedelia and soul: "Hey Ya!" is the shake-it-like-a-Polaroid-picture smash nobody could escape, "Roses" is gleefully catty, and "Prototype" is a gorgeous slow jam.

It went diamond in the US. Over two hours of music, and not a minute you'd want to skip.
