Funkadelic's 1971 psychedelic funk-rock masterpiece Maggot Brain on audiophile 2LP at 45rpm: "Maggot Brain," "Can You Get to That" and "Hit It and Quit It."
Maggot Brain's title track features Eddie Hazel's legendary ten-minute guitar solo, one of the most celebrated performances in rock history.
Produced by George Clinton and recorded at United Sound Systems in Detroit, Maggot Brain was the final album by the original Funkadelic lineup, blending heavy psychedelic rock, gospel, soul and deep funk.
The title track is ten minutes of transcendent, searing guitar from Eddie Hazel, "Can You Get to That" is a joyous gospel-tinged singalong, "Hit It and Quit It" grooves with Bernie Worrell's organ, and "Super Stupid" rocks hard.
At 45 rpm the record spins faster; Eddie Hazel, mercifully, does not hurry.
