Chastity: Suffer Summer [DINE ALONE]

Why you'll love it

Brandon Williams' third Chastity album closes the trilogy that began with Death Lust and Home Made Satan. Dallas Green of City and Colour sings the second verse of "Vicious Circle," and PUP's Stefan Babcock adds backing vocals to "When You Go Home I Withdrawal."

About the album

Williams wrote much of Suffer Summer on the road in 2019, touring with Fucked Up, DIIV and Alexisonfire, then recorded the first ten songs in London, Ontario. Lockdown stretched the sessions; he kept writing, finished 24 songs in all, and cut the album back to ten.

Where the earlier records dwelt on the dark, this one reaches for happiness, healing and contentment, carried by big riffs and bigger choruses. Williams wrote "Vicious Circle" with his partner Linnea Siggelkow of Ellis, then handed the second verse to Green; strings arrived late and, in his words, made it "just too damn beautiful for my voice."
