The Dirty Nil: Minimum R&B (splatter vinyl, Dine Alone exclusive) [DINE ALONE]

Why you'll love it

This is Dine Alone's own exclusive splatter pressing of Minimum R&B, the variant the label keeps for its shop, and we have a couple for the takeover. It gathers The Dirty Nil's scrappy early 7"s and the Smite EP onto one LP, so it's the easiest way to hear "Fuckin' Up Young", "Little Metal Baby Fist" and "Nicotine" without hunting down the originals.

This edition

• Dine Alone exclusive variant, sold by the label direct
• Splatter vinyl
• Early singles and the Smite EP on one LP, plus "Caroline"
• Copies limited

About the album

Before Higher Power, The Dirty Nil lived on short runs of 7"s: "Fuckin' Up Young" in 2011, "Little Metal Baby Fist" a year later, "Cinnamon" and "Guided By Vices" after that, then the Smite EP. Minimum R&B, out in April 2017, puts them in order, so the album plays like a time-lapse of a band getting louder and tighter.

The one new song is "Caroline", a swaggering closer with a bluesy swing. Rush On Rock heard the whole thing as "packed with the power, venom and raw energy that make The Dirty Nil such a great band."

Rough and ready from the Hamilton boys!
Adam Keys, Rush On Rock (8/10)
