![The Dirty Nil: Master Volume [DINE ALONE]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/78126571/1652x1652x2/dine-alone-promo-the-dirty-nil-master-volume-dine.jpg)
Second album from Hamilton's The Dirty Nil, produced by John Goodmanson, with "That's What Heaven Feels Like" and "Bathed In Light". On Dine Alone Records.
Master Volume is the one Exclaim! scored 9/10, and it reached No. 23 on the Canadian albums chart. "That's What Heaven Feels Like" got to No. 31 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, and John Goodmanson's production makes every riff sound arena-sized.
Two years after the Juno, The Dirty Nil went bigger. Master Volume came out in September 2018 with John Goodmanson producing, and the singles rolled out all summer: "Bathed In Light", "Pain Of Infinity", then "I Don't Want That Phone Call".
The songs still clock in around two and a half minutes, but the ambition is in the guitar sound; it reaches for the arena while keeping its punk pulse. "Evil Side" closes the LP at close to six minutes, the longest thing they had put on record.
A defining sermon, distilling decades of guitar-charged power and wisdom into 10 succinct commandments.
Adam Feibel, Exclaim! (9/10)
