![Single Mothers: Roy (bone vinyl) [DINE ALONE]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/77967538/1652x1652x2/dine-alone-promo-single-mothers-roy-bone-vinyl-din.jpg)
Single Mothers' 2023 album on limited bone vinyl, ten short songs cut at 45 RPM, with "Head Shrunk" and "James Gandolfini".
Roy comes on limited bone vinyl, cut at 45 RPM. Drew Thomson leaned on new influences this time (The Nerves, Talking Heads, Lifter Puller and Taylor Swift among them), and the result is the most melodic Single Mothers record yet.
Roy followed 2022's Everything You Need by just six months, and it sounds like a band in a hurry. The ten songs are short and tuneful, with hooks that owe as much to power pop and new wave as to the punk Single Mothers started with.
"Head Shrunk" opens with a jolt; "James Gandolfini" turns a TV icon into a song title; the title track and "Forest Fire" close the record on a warmer note than you might expect from Drew Thomson.
