Third album from Hamilton's Juno-winning rock band, with "Doom Boy", "Done With Drugs" and "Blunt Force Concussion". On Dine Alone Records.
Fuck Art landed on New Year's Day 2021, and Exclaim! called it "pure escapism" for a locked-down year. "Blunt Force Concussion" reached No. 34 on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart, and John Goodmanson, who produced Master Volume, came back behind the desk.
Luke Bentham and Kyle Fisher started playing together in high school in Dundas, at the edge of Hamilton, and The Dirty Nil has carried that garage-band directness ever since. Fuck Art is their third album; it opens with the thrash-tinged love song "Doom Boy" and runs eleven songs in just over half an hour.
They wrote and finished it in 2020, with the clubs dark and the tour vans parked, so the singles arrived one at a time: "Done With Drugs" in June, then videos for "Doom Boy" and "Blunt Force Concussion". A clip for "Elvis '77" followed in 2021, cut together from footage fans sent in.
Created in a time of distress and despair, Fuck Art is pure escapism.
