2019 album from Kansas City emo pioneers The Get Up Kids, their first full-length in eight years, produced with Peter Katis.
Problems was The Get Up Kids' first full-length in eight years, and Peter Katis (The National, Interpol) co-produced it. It reached No. 10 on Billboard's Top Vinyl Albums chart on the strength of "Satellite" and "The Problem Is Me".
The Get Up Kids helped invent Midwest emo in the late '90s, and Problems finds them looking back at that legacy with a clearer head. They recorded it in nineteen days at Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, Connecticut, with Peter Katis behind the board, and the result is tight, bright and full of hooks.
"Satellite" opens with the kind of chorus that made Something To Write Home About a classic; "Salina" slows the pace for one of Matt Pryor's best ballads; "Lou Barlow" is a two-minute love letter to an indie hero. Polyvinyl put it out in the US, and Dine Alone in Canada, on May 10, 2019.
