Pilgrimage returns to vinyl after more than a decade out of print, on a special coloured pressing with an 18x24" poster. Om's most popular record, it was cut by Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in 2007 and features the former rhythm section of Sleep.
After Sleep, bassist and singer Al Cisneros and drummer Chris Hakius stripped heavy music down to its bones as Om. Pilgrimage was Hakius's last studio album with the band, and its four pieces move with the patience of chant.
Steve Albini recorded, produced and mixed it at Electrical Audio in Chicago, and Bob Weston mastered it. The title track opens and closes the LP, framing "Unitive Knowledge Of The Godhead" and "Bhima's Theme."
It runs a little over half an hour and feels like a single long breath: low, hypnotic, and very loud.
"Om's history is as fittingly epic as their music."
