Vince Guaraldi Trio: A Charlie Brown Christmas (soundtrack, advent calendar edition, eco-mix red vinyl, RSD Black Friday 2026) [CRAFT]

Why you'll love it

This Advent Calendar edition turns the gatefold jacket into the countdown itself: 24 windows that open on designs from the Peanuts special, around an eco-mix red LP. The album is five times platinum, entered the Library of Congress National Recording Registry in 2012 and tops Billboard's all-time Greatest Holiday 200.

This edition

About the album

Vince Guaraldi wrote and recorded this music for the 1965 CBS special, and it became the sound of the season for several generations. The trio plays it light and swinging: brushes, upright bass and Guaraldi's warm, unhurried piano.

"Linus And Lucy" is the tune everyone knows, but "Christmas Time Is Here" (heard both as an instrumental and with the children's choir) and "Skating" carry the album's gentle melancholy. Standards like "O Tannenbaum" and "Greensleeves" become small jazz pieces in his hands.

In January 2021 it reached No. 10 on the Billboard 200, the first jazz soundtrack to reach the top ten outside a specialty chart, and it is only the second jazz album certified five times platinum, after Kind Of Blue.

For a family that plays this LP every December, the Advent Calendar jacket makes the countdown part of the ritual.

"For many jazz fans, it's the greatest holiday recording ever."
