About the album

Andy Partridge grew up a devoted record collector, and the flip side was where he kept finding the songs he loved. XTC's own singles carried the habit on: She's So Square, Dance Band and Hang On To The Night first turned up on the reverse of the band's early 7" records, some of them hard to find on vinyl for more than 40 years.

Side one runs from She's So Square to Pulsing Pulsing, eight songs in all; side two closes with live takes of Set Myself On Fire and Battery Brides. Ape House plans two more volumes over the next 12 to 18 months, each a companion to an LP of A-sides.

"Why, thought I, as a rabid teen record collector, do many of my favourite bands, favourite tracks, seem to live on the B-sides?"
Andy Partridge, XTC
