About the album

Husband-and-wife songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez wrote the eight songs at the heart of Frozen, and the film made them household names. This LP gathers those songs without Christophe Beck's score, so it's all singalong, start to finish, ten tracks of Broadway-style storytelling in a snowy Nordic kingdom.

Idina Menzel's "Let It Go" is the showstopper, of course, and Demi Lovato's end-credits version closes side B. Kristen Bell and Menzel trade hopes on "For The First Time In Forever," "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?" ages the sisters a few years in three minutes, and "Love Is An Open Door" is a giddy duet with Santino Fontana. Josh Gad's Olaf gets the sunny "In Summer," Jonathan Groff has the brief "Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People," and "Fixer Upper" brings in the trolls. "Frozen Heart" sets the scene with a chorus of ice harvesters.

"Let It Go" also took the Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media. Under a strobe or a phone camera the picture disc comes to life as it turns, which may buy you one extra minute before somebody asks for track five again.
