David Bowie's 1976 Thin White Duke classic Station to Station, half-speed mastered for its 50th anniversary: "Golden Years," "Stay," "TVC 15" and "Wild Is the Wind."
Station to Station is regarded as one of Bowie's most significant works, a bridge between his plastic soul era and the Berlin albums, with six extraordinary songs.
Co-produced by Bowie and Harry Maslin and recorded in Los Angeles, Station to Station introduced the elegant Thin White Duke persona, fusing funk and soul grooves with the motorik pulse of German krautrock.
The ten-minute title track builds from train sounds into a thrilling rock workout, "Golden Years" is effortlessly cool, "TVC 15" and "Stay" are funky and fierce, and Bowie's take on "Wild Is the Wind" is one of his finest vocal performances.
Mind the train at the start; it does arrive on time.
