Fleetwood Mac's grand 1977 pop gesture Rumours is one of the biggest albums of all time and still a perpetual best-seller.
Rumours spent 31 weeks at No. 1 in the U.S. and won the Grammy for Album of the Year. All four singles went Top 10, and "Dreams" went all the way to the top. More than 40 million copies later, it's still the one we sell every single day.
You'd think everybody already had a copy of Rumours by now, since Fleetwood Mac's pop magnum opus has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide since it first came out in February of 1977, but this polished gem of a record is our biggest seller at Kops Records.
Truth. Not a day goes by when we don't sell at least one copy of Rumours at each of our shops, proving that the audience for this monster hit (it was the biggest-selling album of all time until Michael Jackson's Thriller came along a few years later) just keeps refreshing itself every year. And no wonder: pretty much every tune on the record, from "Second Hand News" and "Don't Stop" to "You Make Loving Fun" and "Gold Dust Woman," is veritably tattooed on the popular consciousness. Despite the songs' familiarity, to soak Rumours up as a whole is to marvel at what an absolutely perfect work of popcraft the thing really is. If you haven't given it a proper spin in a while, you owe it to yourself to remind yourself of its greatness. There's a reason this thing hasn't gone away.
