About the album

For their second album, Alexisonfire were told to hire a big-name producer and book a big studio. They went to Julius Butty's home studio near Hamilton instead, produced it with him, and let Butty engineer and mix while Brett Zilahi mastered. The debut had already made them regulars on MuchMusic, and this time they knew exactly what they wanted. They had pushed the 2002 debut with two Canadian tours and four trips across the United States in 2003.

Watch Out! leans harder on Dallas Green's melodic singing and gives George Pettit's screams more room to hit, with the band soaking up the atmosphere of ambient rock acts like The Appleseed Cast and Mogwai. "Accidents" became the anthem, "Side Walk When She Walks" charges through metal riffs and tempo changes, "No Transitory" opens mid-scream, and "Sharks And Danger" and "That Girl Possessed" take it somewhere darker.

In March 2004 the band hit the road on the Equal Vision Records Tour with Bane, Armor for Sleep and Silent Drive. "Accidents" was written in the basement of Wade MacNeil's mother's house, which remains the most productive use of a Canadian basement we know of, and we've seen our stockroom.
