About the album

Vampires and werewolves are not usually associated with good taste in indie rock, but New Moon changed that. Music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas, back after the first Twilight soundtrack, went after the bands that blog readers were swooning over in 2009 and somehow got nearly all of them.

Death Cab for Cutie wrote "Meet Me On The Equinox" for the film and it became the lead single. Thom Yorke contributes the eerie "Hearing Damage," Bon Iver and St. Vincent team up on "Rosyln," Muse remix "I Belong To You," and The Killers turn in "A White Demon Love Song." Lykke Li, Grizzly Bear, Band of Skulls, Editors, OK Go, Sea Wolf and Anya Marina round it out, and Alexandre Desplat's "New Moon (The Meadow)" closes the set with a piece of his film score. Desplat's full score for the film came out as its own album.

The film itself was shot largely in Vancouver before heading to Italy, so there's a little Canadian in the fog. Team Edward and Team Jacob never did agree on much, but they did agree on the soundtrack.
