About the album

The cover is a photo of the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris, seen from behind a locked fence, and that's the whole mood of Lonerism in one picture: lonely, dreamy and gorgeous. Kevin Parker wrote, played, sang and produced it nearly all on his own, between Perth and Paris.

He swapped some of Innerspeaker's guitars for synths and samples and chased bigger, catchier pop melodies, and it worked. "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" is a woozy, perfect pop song, "Elephant" stomps like a glam rock beast, "Mind Mischief" and "Apocalypse Dreams" swirl, and dictaphone-recorded street sounds drift in and out.

It reached No. 4 in Australia, went platinum there and has sold over 210,000 copies in the US. The booklet is a welcome bonus for anyone determined to go even deeper down the rabbit hole.
