Kevin Parker's fifth Tame Impala album on 2LP, inspired by Western Australian bush doof parties. Home of the Grammy-winning "End of Summer."
"End of Summer" won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Recording, and Deadbeat picked up five ARIA nominations including Album of the Year. It's Parker's rave record, built on the bush doof culture of Western Australia.
Kevin Parker promised the follow-up to The Slow Rush wouldn't take as long, and he (mostly) kept his word. Deadbeat arrived in October of 2025 as the first Tame Impala record on Columbia, and it finds Parker trading some of the woozy psych-pop of old for the pulse of the dance floor, specifically the bush doofs (outdoor raves out in the scrub) and club nights of his Western Australian home turf.
That doesn't mean he's forgotten how to write a song. "Loser" and "Dracula" are as melancholy and hooky as anything in his catalogue, and the sprawling "End of Summer" walked away with the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Recording. It's the sound of a bedroom genius letting the sub-bass take the wheel, and it rewards a proper turntable and a decent set of speakers.
