Tame Impala: Lonerism (2LP) [MODULAR]

Why you'll love it

Lonerism is the record that made Kevin Parker a psych-pop superstar, a Grammy-nominated swirl of fuzz, phasers and Beatles-sized melodies. "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" and "Elephant" are modern classics.

About the album

Kevin Parker made Tame Impala's second album mostly by himself, in his home in Perth and a flat in Paris, playing nearly every instrument. Fittingly, it's an album about feeling like an outsider, set to some of the most lush and blissed-out psychedelic pop of its era: woozy synths, crunchy guitars, drums that sound like they were recorded inside a giant marshmallow.

"Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" is a gorgeous, wistful earworm, "Elephant" is a stomping glam-rock riff, "Mind Mischief" and "Apocalypse Dreams" bloom into huge, cosmic choruses, and the epic "Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control" is a trip all on its own. It earned a Grammy nomination and turned Tame Impala into festival headliners.
