About the album

Coco is a film about a boy whose family wants nothing to do with music, which makes for an awfully good soundtrack. Miguel follows his guitar into the Land of the Dead on Día de Muertos, and the songs carry the story from a mariachi showstopper to a quiet lullaby.

Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the couple behind Frozen's songs, wrote "Remember Me," and it appears here as Ernesto de la Cruz's big number, as a lullaby, as a reunion and as a duet with Natalia Lafourcade. "Un Poco Loco" is a joyful two-hander, "Proud Corazón" brings the finale, "La Llorona" draws on a Mexican standard, and "Everyone Knows Juanita" and "The World Es Mi Familia" round out a warm, very singable set. Anthony Gonzalez voices Miguel, with Gael García Bernal as Héctor and Benjamin Bratt as the swaggering Ernesto.

The song turns up four times on one LP, which is about right, given how many grown adults it has left pretending there's something in their eye.
