About the album

Every so often a voice comes along that stops you in your tracks, and in 2014 that voice belonged to Sam Smith. In the Lonely Hour is a debut full of heartbreak and longing, sung with a soulful, aching falsetto that made people across the world pull over and listen.

"Stay with Me" is the big one, a gospel-tinged plea that hit No. 1 in the UK and No. 2 in the US. "Money on My Mind" also topped the UK chart, "I'm Not the Only One" is a gentle, devastating breakup song, and "Lay Me Down" and "Leave Your Lover" are as tender as it gets. There's also a stripped-back take on "Latch," their breakout with Disclosure.

Its Grammy haul included Record of the Year. A modern soul classic, made for late nights and big feelings.
