About the album

On paper, the singer of Led Zeppelin and bluegrass's most decorated fiddler didn't add up. In practice, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss were a match made in heaven, and with producer T Bone Burnett guiding them they made one of the most beautiful records of the 2000s.

Their voices wrap around each other like smoke. "Rich Woman" opens with a slinky, swampy groove, "Please Read the Letter" turns a Page and Plant song into a hushed, aching duet, "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" rocks with Everly Brothers spirit, and "Killing the Blues" and "Polly Come Home" are dusky and haunting.

It also won Americana Album of the Year, and AllMusic hailed it as one of the most effortless-sounding pairings in modern music.
