The Return of the Living Dead soundtrack on radioactive green with brown tarman splatter vinyl, limited to 1,500 copies, with The Cramps, 45 Grave, T.S.O.L., The Damned and Roky Erickson.
This Real Gone pressing comes on radioactive green with brown tarman splatter vinyl, limited to 1,500 copies. The 1985 soundtrack gathers LA punk, death rock and psychobilly, led by The Cramps' "Surfin' Dead" and 45 Grave's "Partytime."
Dan O'Bannon's 1985 horror comedy follows a gang of teenage punks facing down a horde of brain-hungry zombies, so it needed a soundtrack that sounded like the kids rather than the monsters. Executive producer Budd Carr and soundtrack producers Steve Pross and William Hein rounded up the era's punk, death rock and psychobilly bands, and the album has been a fixture on punk shelves ever since.
The Cramps open with "Surfin' Dead," 45 Grave's Dinah Cancer leads "Partytime" in its zombie version, T.S.O.L. deliver "Nothing for You," and Chris D.'s Flesh Eaters tear through "Eyes Without a Face." Roky Erickson brings "Burn the Flames," The Damned add "Dead Beat Dance," Tall Boys and The Jet Black Berries keep the creepy rockabilly going, and SSQ close things out with "Tonight (We'll Make Love Until We Die)" and "Trash's Theme."
Enigma first put it out in 1985, and it has turned up in country after country since, from France and the UK to Japan and New Zealand, on LP, cassette and CD. Real Gone's splatter comes in the colours of the film's famous Tarman, which is about as close to him as anyone should get.
