About the album

Very few pop groups start life as a burlesque troupe. The Pussycat Dolls did, in Los Angeles in 1995 under choreographer Robin Antin, and a decade later Jimmy Iovine saw a brand in the making. Producer Ron Fair built the recording group around Nicole Scherzinger and Melody Thornton, with troupe members Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta and Kimberly Wyatt.

Fair produced much of the record, with Polow da Don, Rich Harrison and Kwamé adding beats. "Don't Cha" set the tone with Busta Rhymes, will.i.am drops into "Beep," Timbaland joins on "Wait A Minute," and "Stickwitu" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group. A "Tainted Love / Where Did Our Love Go" medley and "Feelin' Good" show off the group's showbiz roots.

By 2020 it had sold nine million units worldwide, and the group took it around the world on the PCD World Tour and on the road with the Black Eyed Peas and Christina Aguilera. The choreography remains optional at home, though we can't vouch for aisle three on a Saturday.
