About the album

Only Primus could get Tom Waits, James Hetfield, Tom Morello and Stewart Copeland on the same record and still sound entirely like themselves. Antipop was the band's last album before a three-year break, and their last with drummer Brain, and it goes out with a bang.

Les Claypool's slap-happy bass and cartoon-noir storytelling are front and centre. "Lacquer Head" stomps, "Electric Uncle Sam" rides a Morello-produced groove, "Coattails of a Dead Man" is produced by Matt Stone of South Park, and "Power Mad" and "The Antipop" swing between funk, metal and pure weirdness, with Jim Martin of Faith No More dropping by too.

Critics mostly loved it, and fans have treasured it ever since as a snapshot of late-nineties alt-rock at its most adventurous.
