About the album

Lana Del Rey figured out her "thing" on Born To Die in 2012 and very quickly rode that thing to international fame and acclaim.

Several successful albums have followed, but Born To Die, wherein we were introduced to Del Rey's dead-eyed socialite persona and drowsy, synth-drenched cinematic sound, tends to be the one everyone goes back to. Which is unsurprising, given the sheer number of monster singles collected on this baby: "Video Games," "Blue Jeans," "Summertime Sadness," "National Anthem," "Dark Paradise" and, of course, "Born To Die." Not a bad first foot forward, really. Indeed, in 2023 Born To Die became the second album ever by a female artist to spend more than 500 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, and it has since become the longest-charting album by a woman, period. Its appeal hasn't diminished one bit.
