P!nk's 2001 breakthrough M!ssundaztood as a 2LP set, with "Get the Party Started," "Don't Let Me Get Me," "Just Like a Pill" and "Family Portrait."
This 2LP set spreads all 15 tracks across four sides, pressed in the EU. M!ssundaztood went five times platinum in both the US and Canada, sold more than 12 million copies worldwide and remains her biggest album.
Some artists ease into a new direction. P!nk tore up the R&B blueprint of her debut, phoned Linda Perry of 4 Non Blondes, and made the pop rock record she actually wanted to make. Perry co-wrote and produced a big chunk of it, with Dallas Austin, Scott Storch and Damon Elliott handling the rest.
The hits came in a row. "Get the Party Started" is a strutting dance-floor opener, "Don't Let Me Get Me" is a funny, furious bit of self-examination, "Just Like a Pill" crunches like a rock single, and "Family Portrait" is a raw look at her parents' divorce from a kid's-eye view. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith turns up for the bluesy duet "Misery," and Perry's influence shows on the stripped-back "Lonely Girl" and "Gone to California."
It peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, No. 5 in Canada and No. 2 in the UK, with three US top-10 singles along the way. The spelling in the title has given school spell-checkers trouble for a quarter of a century, and we're told they've made their peace with it.
