Pink Floyd's 1972 soundtrack album Obscured by Clouds, 2016 remaster, recorded for Barbet Schroeder's La Vallée: "Free Four," "Childhood's End" and "Wot's... Uh the Deal?"
Obscured by Clouds is an overlooked gem made right before The Dark Side of the Moon, full of warm, concise songs that point toward the masterpiece to come.
Recorded in two quick sessions in France in the middle of a tour, the album served as the soundtrack to Barbet Schroeder's film La Vallée and shows the band at their most relaxed and song-focused.
The title track throbs with synth and drums, "Free Four" is a jaunty, wry single, "Childhood's End" is a David Gilmour highlight, and "Wot's... Uh the Deal?" and "Stay" are gentle and lovely.
An overlooked gem, remastered. The clouds are parting nicely.
