Pink Floyd's 1969 soundtrack to Barbet Schroeder's film More, remastered on 180g vinyl, with "Cymbaline," "The Nile Song" and "Green Is The Colour."
This 2016 version is remastered from the stereo album and pressed on heavyweight 180g vinyl. More was a UK top ten hit and the band's first album without Syd Barrett, with David Gilmour singing every lead vocal.
Director Barbet Schroeder was a Pink Floyd fan, and for his first feature, a film shot mostly on Ibiza, he didn't want background music. He wanted songs the characters could actually hear, records on at a party, so he brought a rough cut to London and let the band loose.
They recorded at Pye Studios early in 1969 with engineer Brian Humphries, producing themselves for the first time and working out most of the music in two weeks. Roger Waters wrote lyrics between takes, and Nick Mason later said the film suited the rumblings, squeaks and sound textures they made as a matter of course. "Cirrus Minor" opens in birdsong and organ, "The Nile Song" roars, "Green Is The Colour" and "Cymbaline" are gentle Gilmour showcases, and Mason and Richard Wright share the credit on the percussive "Up The Khyber."
Several of these songs stayed in their live sets for years afterward, and it's a lovely, loose window between their early psychedelia and the big albums to come. With no budget for a dubbing studio, they simply timed each scene with a stopwatch, a level of planning not normally associated with a summer on Ibiza.
