About the album

Pink Floyd are many things, but a dance band was never one of them, which is exactly why they used the title. It was a dig at the disco beat of "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)" and at Nick Mason's joke that their American label probably thought they were a dance band. The cover finished the joke: a pair of ballroom dancers tied to the floor so they can't move.

The six tracks span a decade. "One of These Days" comes from Meddle, "Sheep" from Animals, "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (here parts 1, 2, 4 and 7) and "Wish You Were Here" from Wish You Were Here, and the big single from The Wall closes it. "Money" was completely re-recorded for the set, with David Gilmour playing most of the instruments, co-producing with James Guthrie, and Dick Parry back on saxophone.

It went double platinum in the US, which is a lot of people very nearly dancing. The ballroom couple on the front have yet to get up off the floor.
