![Pavement: Brighten the Corners [MATADOR]](https://cdn.shoplightspeed.com/shops/621399/files/33629377/1652x1652x2/new-vinyl-pavement-brighten-the-corners-matador.jpg)
Pavement's warm, witty 1997 album Brighten the Corners: "Shady Lane," "Stereo," "Date w/ IKEA" and "Type Slowly."
Brighten the Corners is Pavement's most mellow and melodic album, packed with Stephen Malkmus's best one-liners and some of the band's catchiest songs.
Following the scattered Wowee Zowee, the band tightened up into relaxed, laid-back indie rock, with Malkmus's wry lyrics, shimmering guitars and the occasional Scott Kannberg song.
"Stereo" is playful and catchy, "Shady Lane" is a gorgeous, wistful singalong, "Date w/ IKEA" is Kannberg's bouncy highlight, "Transport Is Arranged" builds beautifully, and "Type Slowly" is melancholy and lovely.
Pavement, tidied up a little, though nobody would mistake it for spring cleaning.
