About the album

The biggest American boy band of their era actually broke in Germany first. Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone and Lance Bass put out their debut there in May 1997 on BMG Ariola Munich, where it went to No. 1, before RCA brought it home in 1998 and a Disney Channel concert special sent sales through the roof.

Timberlake and Chasez split most of the lead vocals. Denniz Pop and Max Martin made "I Want You Back" in Stockholm, the same hit factory that was building Backstreet Boys and soon Britney Spears, and "Tearin' Up My Heart" follows the same sleek formula. Full Force, Veit Renn and others round out the production, from the harmonies of "(God Must Have Spent) A Little More Time on You" to the dance-floor bounce of "Here We Go" and "For the Girl Who Has Everything."

In Canada it went four times platinum, and the TRL era was never quite the same. The anniversary sleeve comes with no instructions for the dance routines, so you'll have to rely on memory like the rest of us.
