About the album

Very few films come with a cast list that includes a Bond, a Mr. Darcy and Meryl Streep singing "The Winner Takes It All" on a Greek clifftop. Mamma Mia! did, and the soundtrack became a phenomenon of its own. Benny Andersson produced it, Björn Ulvaeus executive produced, and many of the musicians from the original ABBA records came back to play.

Amanda Seyfried opens with "Honey, Honey," Streep belts "Money, Money, Money" and "Mamma Mia," and then joins Julie Walters and Christine Baranski for "Dancing Queen." Pierce Brosnan and Streep share "SOS," Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård join in on "Our Last Summer," Dominic Cooper and Seyfried duet on "Lay All Your Love on Me," and Streep's "Slipping Through My Fingers" with Seyfried is a proper tearjerker.

It went 7 times platinum in the UK and earned a Grammy nomination. The film grossed more than $700 million worldwide, which is a great many people leaving the cinema humming ABBA. A fair few of them, we suspect, are still humming at our counter.
